My name
is Darryl and I am 31 years old. Yes I'm over 30 and proud to be an
adult at last. All I need to do now is find maturity!
I currently
live in near to Finsbury Park, North London, UK. I've lived in the city
for about 4 years. This is the first time I have had a flat of my own.
I was
born in a place called Bradford on Avon in Wiltshire, in the west of
the UK. The West Country is very pretty but not really very adventurous,
which is why I left home in 1993.
I'm
gay & single. I came out in 1993 and this was the main reason why
I left home to search for like-minded people who would be more empathic
to being non-heterosexual. I'm still looking for the right man to love
me as much as I try to love myself.
I was
diagnosed HIV+ in 1996. I'm asymptomatic, i.e. I am unaffected by HIV.
It looks like I will stay well for some time to come!
I love
Europe and the idea of our diverse but related community and wish that
all of us, especially the UK, would get over the petty issues of sovereignty
which dog the member states at the moment. We would then be more successful
at integrating.
I want
world peace (who doesn't!), but I also want the United Nations to play
a more prominent role in life and politics throughout the world.
What
can I say?... I'm an incurable 'idealist' and believe very strongly
and seriously in Gene Roddenberry's dream, as portrayed in Star Trek.
That's not to say that I'm a fan of the 'American Dream'. I'm not into
the imperialistic leanings of my own nation any more than I agree with
the bullish nature of Uncle Sam.
I love
life and the privilege of living. People fascinate me and I wish everyone
wanted to teach me as much as I want to learn from them, and vice versa.
Having said that, I have many friends who do teach me much and constantly
show me their love.
I believe
that we exist to enhance each other's existence.
